Syd Barrett dies aged 60

Well, so long you crazy diamond, you wore out your welcome with random precision, your lost soul wont be in that fishbowl for year after year anymore.

As in all things Pink Floyd it is strainge to note that the Pulse DVD went on sale yesterday in a matter of sublime irony, as it was the last concert of the band before live 8 last year.

The icons of the 60's are now passing away before our eyes. :(

And John Spencer, snooker player went as well.

shine on, syd.

I'd more think that he's in Gardening World in the sky, or majoring in DIY.

Sic transit gloria.

Gilmores' wife probably wrote it for him. She ruined Pink Floyd.

Oooh, a Polly Sampson hater..................she actually did write some of the new cd, and so did Richard Wright...... Did you ever see what Roger Walters said "the wife!! and to call THAT Pink Floyd..."

Been listneing to "Wish You Were Here" recently. It's got to be one of the most radio unfriendly albums of all time. Fantastic.

Colm Donoghue 19-07-2006 13:19

I heard Shine on played in full (both parts) once on radio & I remember listening to "One of these Days" on Donal Dineen one Sunday night driving to Cork, I've never heard Echoes played on the radio.
Now that is radio unfriendly.

Side one of Atom Heart Mother is everything unfriendly.......

I love that track so much.
When it was first released it was the longest ever 'song' without vocals.

Yes but with AHM they left a few bits and pieces for an orchastra to fill in (along with a spooky choir) the results a right mess. That said two of my favs, Fat Old Sun and Summer 68 (or is it 67?) are on there and the first precurser to the wall If can be found there, a track which should get us all worked up....."if i were a train i'd be late, again....."
