Pearse Station Improvements
Is there any publicly available information on the upgrade phases to Pearse, bar the artist's impressions on the signage at Pearse?
I've been mystified by the 3 shed-like objects on Plat. 2 and am wondering if the old Spar will be refitted in somewhere else. |
Its quite technical and has been discussed at length in the members area of the forum
1. Spar is gone, not coming back as far as I know 2. The sheds actually cover the new lift, stairs and escalators to the secondary concourse at Cumberland Street 3. The exit turnstiles on the north bound are at the top of the the stairs (*4) plus about 12 more at the top of the ramped exit mid platform 4. Booking office likely to move to where the shoe repair is Its not really much of an improvement, the roof needs serious attention and quickly some of the iron bars are showing considerable distortion which can't be good |
Hmmm, that means the gurriers can wander all the way up the ramp unchecked and the ticket office will offer no passive supervision of the barriers.
London Underground style barriers please. |
Manned barriers
I would doubt that the barriers will be unmanned as they will need someone in there to let people through if their ticket fails etc.

Station might still be a mess but its all ok since the station front is now floodlit at night
Of course the floodlights where still on a 10am nice to see my fare and taxes being wasted on the electric bill |
Indeed, reminds me of my favourite station, Broombridge. The floodlights there are on 24x7, maybe they really need them round there! :D
|
Exit validation is live now on the southbound platform
Several gates already out of service |
Quote:
|
Gates for the northbound are in the process of installation at the moment
|
They finally opened the fire exit doors on the southbound side this morning, so no more of the crazy set of turns at the bottom of the stairs
Of course the floodlights are still switched on in daylight |
Floodlights still on 24-7
New map has appeared on the northbound side of the station, in blue The plasma screen train information display has finally appeared next to the escalator going southbound, so if you are going northside or use the stairs going south side you will never see it Exit gates have been in use for well over a week now on the northbound side as well |
Take a close look at the map. Our friends in Irish Rail once again prove their genius
|
For someone that rarely uses Pearse any pics available?
|
Will be shortly

Best pic so far is this
Attachment 810 Will get better later Note the blue tape over Clongriffin. There are two other obvious errors on the map as well Tip off came in by email last night, Clongriffin was actually shown then, the tape is overnight change Edit: Three obvious enough errors |

Gets worse
Attachment 811 So 1 - Gormanston is not spelt with a w, Irish Rail go through phases using a w 2 - Rush and Lusk, wonder where this Rush and Lush place is 3 - Edgeworthstown, seems to have vanished 4 - Phoenix Park, missing as well 5 - Castleknock, has lost a k Can anyone figure out the lines on the map between Gormanston and Portmarnock, can't figure them out The incompetence is unbelievable, one error you could let slide, but five? |
ha ha what a joke.
Thanks for the pics. Does one have to be literate to work for IE? |
Counting down the minutes before the map vanishes :D
|
