[23-2-2008] Match Croke Park - Ireland v Scotland

The 20:00 train to Cork is deferred to 20:30 as a result of the match in Croke Park

This train is fully booked

Is the 21.00hrs Heuston Cork running as normal time Mark?

Any news on if there is any other extra services for tomorrow night? (I think the match will be over by around 7pm)

(Sorry just remember that there was issues with OT and rest days at the moment) :o

Mark Gleeson 22-02-2008 13:07

21:00 running as normal

No extra trains anywhere and I wouldn't be terribly confident in a full service operating tomorrow evening

I'm walking to Croker thankfully

Maynooth line should be fun tomorrow night then!

Last time this happened - was the first floodlight evening game at croke park, Dublin v Tyrone (no extra services maynooth line) the evening inbound Sligo-Dublin service had to make stops at Leixlip, Clonsilla, Coolmine, Castleknock and Ashtown

Any odds on this repeating iteself!?

I'm not even going to attempt to go home after the game until at least 10.

The chaos inbound on the Maynooth line last time was unbelievable, folks could not get on past Clonsilla.

ThomasJ 22-02-2008 13:46

Well the game starts at 5.00pm, so the services before the game are:

14:00 Maynooth Pearse (All stations, arr Drumcondra 14:33)

14:33 Maynooth Pearse (All stations, arr Drumcondra 15:06)

15:05 Maynooth Pearse (All stations, arr Drumcondra 15:39)

16:04 Maynooth Connolly* (all stations, arr Drumcondra 16:37)
* On any ordinary Saturday this service operates to Bray, arrording to the timetable this service will operate to Connolly only tomorrow (it states operates Saturday 23 February only)

So while not bad, if these trains are 8-coach it might be ok there is an hour gap between 15:05 (arr 15:39) and 16:04 (16:37) there are going to be alot of passengers travelling i reckon between that gap as it is quite close to the match.

There is a 15:28 non-stop intercity service from Maynooth to Connolly. If things get bad, I reckon (maynot happen though) that this service will stop at the additional stops, who knows?

ThomasJ 22-02-2008 13:59

And the prehistorical times on most long distance services tomorrow night means people may be tight for time for their train or may not have one at all.

Gorey/Rosslare Europort - 18:37 Connolly - last service
Should have deferred it until 19:00
It does depart Drumcondra at 18:30 but the match won't be over at that stage.

Longford/Mullingar/Sligo - 19:05 Connolly - last service
Its not great but better than 18:30. Should have stopped in Drumcondra making life a bit easier for their passengers.

Hopefully soon enough we we will see later trains for those services

however,:

Cork have a 20:30 (allthough sold out) and 21:00

and according to the timetable, Galway has a 19:15 and a 21:10

and Limerick has a direct 21:20 service (according to timetable)

Mark Gleeson 22-02-2008 14:11

Be warned there are 6 cancellations tomorrow only 1 will effect match goers

On the Northern line after tomorrows game

The 18:40 Connolly Dundalk is deferred to 19:00
Calls at its usual stops skerries Balbriggan Layton Drogheda

The 19:00 Connolly Belfast Enterprise is deferred to 19:20

The 19:21 Connolly Drogheda is scheduled to run as normal.

ThomasJ 22-02-2008 18:00

Just thought i would mention that on the irish rail website, if you search for services from Heuston to Portlaoise for tomorrow night you get only the 19.00 and 21.00 services to cork, no other services.

But if you search for a service from Heuston to Kildare there is a 20:45 Intercity service special for tomorrow night and in information that service shows a destination of Portlaoise?

Strange ehh?

Colm Moore 23-02-2008 20:03

Might it make sense to run some DMU Dun Laoghaire-Clonsilla-Dun Laoghaire on match days? Or should the DORT people just get off at Connolly?
