22/10/2007 - Ticket machine @ Carlow out of order

The machine was broken into over the weekend and a small sum of money stolen.

Probably all on CCTV so shouldn't take the GardaÃ* long to figure out who did it.

Interesting, the TVM's are said to be vandal proof

TVM's are fitted with a siren which sounds if they are opened incorrectly, and they should phone home as well

You would need to have an understanding of ATM machines to know what to grab if you got inside

I'd say they were there for a while, they tried each side and the top before finally getting it open.

It's a very isolated spot, the nearest house is probably 300m away.

Note on the front this morning reads:

Please do not touch this machine ...[can't read my photo]... and The Gardai have to take more fingerprints.

All the cash and coin has been removed from this machine

CCTV has the video footage of the robbery and day to day commings and goings of the station. The Garda have all evidence to secure a conviction.

The machine has been replaced and is working again (06/11/07)
