this may interest some of the train admirers among us.. but i noticed today the gates to liffey junction at Broadstone re-opened today with diggers working away, the start of metro works??
was posted last night

sorry I opened a new thread, couldn't find the old one!!!

Whatever else it is, I'm fairly sure it's not the start of the Metro works - Metro won't be going anywhere near Broadstone.

Sounds a lot like the clearing works that took place on the WRC if you ask me.

Broadstone

Why would Irish rail want to send trains to Broadstone with all the talk about the docklands - heuston tunnell freeing up capacity in the city centre.

Department of Transport have gone on record stating they will refuse Irish Rail's request

They don't need the station

And the SRR canned the WRC a few years ago. Do we really believe any of them?

Could see a truck with some sort of piling equipment in the old broadstone line up at the back of Mount Bernard Park off Connaught St. on Tuesday. It is quite mucky down there at the moment.

More likely a test boring kit which would look quite similar.

No they have been on the allignment, the full alignment for the past month.

JCB, clearance etc, like they did at Dunboyne.

I have some pics I'll post later

puttin it up to the RPA ....

they could have a line running down to there in quickie pronto time.

bigger game here methinks.

Ah yes. This is CIEs new landscaping division.

They were first unleashed on part of the Navan line. There was much fanfare when they tidied the garden down that way, but unfortunetly its gone a bit tatty now. I guess they are doing the same thing on the Broadstone line. However it is not yet known if a garden railway is to be provided as another gardener is planning a lego railway on the same allottment.
