Goofs and Errors in the 2007 timetable booklet

As always Irish Rail fail to proof read the timetable fully and interesting things appear

Example one page 79

Docklands has Luas. Airport and 90 bus connections ???

Donal Quinn 09-01-2007 11:13

in any case shold it not be DUBLIN Docklands for consistency?

markpb 09-01-2007 11:24

I thought I heard somewhere recently that the 90 route was to be extended towards the new station until the Luas extension was done. Could be wrong though. I guess one of the 74* buses might be extended as well (or pass if if they're re-routed through the DPT) but the Luas icon is just optimistic ;)

Mark Gleeson 09-01-2007 11:26

Well its the only page to show those connections, all the other pages show the correct connections at Connolly

Why does it take 10mins to get from Broombridge to Drumcondra????

Any chance they could fix up the bit of track which causes the problems? Sorry, don't know what it's called, but it's a junction between the two where the trains have to slow down to an absolute crawl?

seamus kilcock 09-01-2007 17:40

broombridge drumcondra elapsed time

4 1/2 to 5 minutes between Drumcondra and Broombridge is the norm.
However there are a few 'quirky' timings - e.g. the 0700 from Longford is allowed 10 1/2 minutes from B/bridge to D/condra.
The 0700 from Longford is allowed 5 minutes from Drumcondra to Connolly whereas the 0758 (Jan 15 timetable) from Maynooth is allowed 9 1/2 minutes; the same train is allowed 5 minutes between Broombridge and Drumcondra.
I'm sure there are good reasons for these 'contradictory' timings?

Anyone know when the train information screens will be operational on the Maynooth line?

Incidentally a door opening/closing problem on to-day's 1322 from Connolly to Drogheda delayed departure until 1334 - it's a 2600 class DMU.

MOH 09-01-2007 17:59

The Sligo-Dublin timetable contains a reference to 'Liexlip Louise Bridge', instead of Leixlip Louisa Bridge. Two for one there.

Its called padding and there's more of it, than you'd find in a wonder bra!

That's odd? Can't paste a screenshot but Leixlip is spelled differently here

IE very kindly supplied a double sided sheet of the new Cork times on the 5:30 this morning. I'm impressed and credit to them.

Alas, the English gremlin is running around chosing the wrong words for pg1...
'Our Advise is - Don't Get left Behind'
Where do I begin? advice, the random use of capitals....
and 'intermediate Stations are also effected'. That would be affected.
And to be picky - it's usually 'lo-call' not 'low-call'

Dear IE - I am available for proofreading services any time. I noticed two mistakes on my first read.

MOH 11-01-2007 14:50

Have they no symbols to use for footnotes other than ever increasing *s ?

The second part of that Mallow timetable is pretty hard to read with all those **** or ***** s. What wrong with superscript letters or numbers?

Mark Gleeson 11-01-2007 14:58

If they are going to all that hassle why didn't they give out the full colour fold up booklet? So you woudn't have to check

Derek Wheeler 11-01-2007 23:16

And it goes on.......

Portlaoise/Kildare line timetable has an interesting one which has been in numerous timetables prior to the 2007 one.

In the column for the connecting bus to/from NAAS, it says NASS. Ooops! But in brackets after that it states, POPULAR SQ. Hmmm.... the departue point in Naas, not Nass, is indeed an area know as a square, but it is in fact POPLAR SQ. (Named after the Poplar tree, which is in abundance in this area)

oh well, I live in NASS and I used to have an office in POPULAR SQ. (according to IE anyway.)

It just gets better

I'm fairly sure it was spelt that way in the old timetable

Mark Gleeson 12-01-2007 14:40

They had Naas right in 2006 but the poplar square thing was wrong

It is already consistent with Tara Street.
