There was flooding in Greystones this morning, given the line is well above sea level it doesn't add up

No notice on IE site at 8am or 8:15 but AA have this

The Gorey train in fact left Wicklow 2 minutes early...

I dont know Mark, they ahve to take into account High Waves. Dont know what it was like where you live but it was fairly wild last night in Tipp.

If there were waves hitting the line between Grey stones and Bray and not hitting the line between Grey stones and Wicklow, why then IE *are* running an efficien service and we can all go home now.

high waves would only affect the line south of greystones - from the station north the line is well above the sea.

when I arrived (soaked) at greystones station this morning (around 0730) there was a guy at the door saying all Dart services were cancelled and telling people to go across the road and get a bus into Bray. Only when questioned did he admit the Gorey train was running.

Put it this way if the line was flooded in Greystones a good part of the village would be underwater, no reports of that, the only point of risk is just south of the station at the car park but you don't need that section to run a DART service. Of course the line is 15 foot higher than the car park. Kilcoole now I'd understand

Bear in mind the Gorey train runs empty in the morning, ok it only got as far as Wicklow before starting for Dublin so the line must have been clear at 7:15 for it to reach Wicklow in time to leave at 7:32 so the 7:30 DART could have run ontime even if it was still in Bray at 7:15

I travelled by DART a few years ago in flood conditions all you could see outside was water and the tops of the rails, still got there all the same

i really can't think of a reason why they cancelled the morning trains up to 8.05, the waves definatly would never reach up to the DART line between bray and greystones...it would have to be a tsunami or something for waves to get that high and i take the train every day between bray/greystones. Does anyone know why they cancel the services when there's stormy conditions in mornings? they actually seem to do this at least once a year!
