Im still confused though, the notices say its to facilitate trackwork. Surely they need to close the railline to construct the trackwork.

The track through the level crossing is being renewed this weekend - hence both road & rail affected. Not sure why Dublin Bus is advising disruption for five weekends.

That makes sense- there's been a TSR at the crossing for the past few weeks and there's a load of ballast and road-rail vehicles hanging around there too.

Hopefully the work won't have to be all redone when/if the new bridge is built and the LC is eliminated.

Well according to the Council road closures page linked above, the work is actually taking place for five weekends. I suspect IE is just being their usual selves and not telling their passengers that.

I do wonder why Saturday evening services aren't affected as well though.

prep works for this included perhaps?

Needless to say the linked IE page broke with the site migration

I think it's just general track renewal and ballasting/tamping. Ride quality over the crossing has been atrocious for some time now.

I would personally wait until the bridge was complete and remove the LC/upgrade track and the same time. But given the lack of progress on the Council's side(there's been no work that I can see done in preparation) and possible safety concerns with the current track quality I'm not aware of, maybe now is the best time to do this.

Oh, and I should point out apparently the bridge isn't coming until 2013 due to the government's awful capital expenditure budget. http://www.neighbours.ie/forums/show...rom-Irish-Rail

Good to see Leo passing everything off as an operational matter for a quango. No accountability for anything in our political system.
