07:43 Portlaoise to Heuston
Since this train started as part of the new timetable there have been delays 4 out of the 5 mornings this week.
The train is late into Portarlington for a start, gets to Kildare and sits there for 10 to 15 mins with no announcments. Cork train goes through on the centre track and another 3 carriage as well. About 5 mins later it takes off again. Its getting into Heuston 12 to 13 mins late which is a complete joke for a train from Portlaoise. This needs to be looked at as this delay is one a once off and it seems to be done to allow other trains through in Kildare with no apologies or reason given by staff on the train or in the station. |
The 6:15 Cork Dublin should if all is working correctly slide by at Hazelhatch
The 6:20 from Limerick is routinely late departing Portloaise which in turn delays the 7:43 from departing and then forces the overtake to happen elsewhere. The fantom 3 coach train you saw was probably a delayed 06:20 There is provision to allow an overtake at Sallins Dublin bound if required, has this happened? |
Is the late running of the 07:43 from Port Laoise the reason the 06:15 from Cork has become unreliable in the new timetable?
|
The money is on the 6:20 from Limerick being the problem as this is ahead of 6:15, for every minute it is late the 6:15 will be a minute late
|
The 07:43 is pulling in to let others past so it's not the problem. If it doesn't improve I'm going to stop using it.
|
The 06:00 - Waterford - Heuston has being delayed everyday this week except 1 day. So it's not just the Limerick. So far delayes have being between 7 - 20 minutes on the service. Delays at Cherryville, Kildare, Newbridge or Salins.

Morning all
Anyone Know whats going on with the Portlaoise 6.02am train, late all this week. Carlow train picking up passengers in Kildare/newbridge/sallins etc ahead of it this morning, which is scheduled 10 minutes after. 10 minutes I could have had snoooozing:rolleyes: |
I'm assuming you mean the 06:20
Its departing Portlaoise up to 15 minutes late for reasons unknown |
Sorry mark correct 6.20
Thanks for the update, any idea when this issue will stop or is it for the forseeable. I really appreciate your update, but I find it very annoying that a. we have to get this kind of information through yourself, IR web reads. Travel Alerts - No current Travel Alerts. b. Unknown issue, this is the stuff that drives commuters nuts:mad: Again sincere thanks as I wont bust my chops getting down the station tommorow morning |
Problem is it will be on-time the day you risk it
Monday = 06:20 / 07:20 (on time) Tuesday = 06:30 / 07:30 (+10) Wednesday = 06:36 / 07:36 (+16) Last week was perfect with no day more than 5 minutes late We rely heavily on passengers on trains to tweet or post here to get the information. Irish Rail have instant knowledge of any delay, we don't |
Took your advice Mark, went down at my usual time, 6.20 on time this morning. Luckily didnt hit the snooze button.
Unusually it was a single set of 3 this morning rather than the normal 2x3 |
Perfectly on-time
We believe some trains have been transferred to Waterford due Tall ships |
I've given up on the 7:43, its a complete joke that you get a train that has to pull for 10 mins to let others past when it could be in Heuston in 5 mins.

With four lines running into inchicore, could it not just slow down and let them pass, it seems abit overly cautous to come to a complete stop, i dont think they are making the most of the 4 line system

Matching that to reality and time keeping is another matter. |
