New DART Station (Shanganagh)

There will also be a new DART station in Shanganagh Co Dublin. Both of these projects are being part funded by the National Transport Authority.

Between Shankill and Bray the Dart line runs mostly thorough parks/golf courses. Only from the old Shanganagh junction site North to Shankill is the line adjacent to housing, and this is a mere 400m or so. Will the new station be just 400m from Shankill station?

Is this a Shane Ross vanity project?

Jamie2k9: Thanks for the references. The Co Council map is rather strange: when you take away the lands of (a) Shanganagh Park, (b) Shanganagh Cemetery and (c) Woodbrook Golf Club, there is not a great deal of housing-development land left. Also most of the land is quite close to the N11 and its bus routes.

I reckon it will be about 600m between Shankill and Shanganagh stations, and the net catchment of the new station will be quite limited.

Also it will make a scandalously slow Dart service even slower (I know this is not a really valid argument, but it highlights the need for slicker operating practices on the Dart)

Chances are IE are powerless in it, so not a lot can be done unless some very valid planning objections are raised.

Could well be another Pelletstown...

There are old station platforms on Woodbrook Golf Course - wonder if the proposed Dart station is there?

But sounds like it's as much to do about an interchange station with an extended Green Luas line as a new housing development.
