[27-04-2008] 8:32 Drogheda-Pearse
8:32 to Pearse was a 4 car 2900 instead of the usual 8 car. There was also about an inch of water on the floor, like someone forgot to close the doors before going through the train washer. It was fairly full leaving Drogheda, and had quite a lot of people standing leaving Laytown.
Then the driver forgot to stop in Gormanston, and had to reverse back. When we got to Balbriggan we were asked to change to platform 1 where an 8-car train was waiting, so we're now on proper length train, but about 20 mins late. |
Sounds like a complete farce.
The sooner the line is electrified, the better. Replace the glorified DART's (COMMUTER) with proper DART's |
Would appear a 29k set was nicked to cover a trip to Belfast, the 7:35 Dublin Belfast Enterprise broke down
|
How anyone could sit on a 29k going from Dublin-Belfast is beyond me.
Could the Mk3 international set stored in North Wall not have done it? There has to be a better solution than a 29k... |
There needs to be a standby set in Connolly, back in the day there was the Mk2d Sligo set which made many a trip
The international set is on scrap wheels and its not really the best. There is a citygold set in Dundalk, thats what you want |

That probably explains the swap at Balbriggan to a different train
Pass a red signal or overshoot a platform normally means driver is taken off the train and replaced |
