I'm guessing train drivers have joined the bus eireann strike

Picketing also outside Dublin bus depots.

This is secondary picketing, obviously need a court to rule on this

If its secondary picketing and not covered by the exemption (the other party is assisting the party in dispute) then, well I wouldn't want to be standing out there as it opens a huge liability

Demot O'Leary of NBRU very clear on RTE radio this morning.

This action was not taken by the union. Persons involved to stop and return to work

It sounds like a few busses got out of depots before the pickets were placed. Similarly the odd train got away first thing - the 0545 from Sligo went.

I'm reminded of Harold Wilson's problems with (I think) a nation-wide dock strike, organised in his words by "a tightly knit group of politically organised men".

What chance is there that our pretty useless journalists will do some real digging into who organised this and what is their political affiliation? It clearly was organised and I can guess at the suspects: many of them extremists who get a really regular voice on RTE.

If you heard the speeches it was well planned action and coming since Wednesday, don't think it was the NBRU but they heard it as well.

However I believe it ended a lot sooner than some had planned!

obvious that they got out of dodge before the High Court started sitting at 11 o clock.

very nasty stuff, and (unless I am mistaken) to do it on a day where people may be actually getting their pay for the month in person (I know most no longer do) is just knifing people in the back.

some wag said on twitter yesterday that they were praying for BAC to be hit so that the government would finally act. This is a feeling throughout rural ireland. Pat Kenny made a few Freudian slips this morning talking about Dublin bus services in Cork..... and then saying how the BE dispute hasnt affected many and so thats why it was brought to Dublin.

This is bollocks, of course, its just that RTE and the rest of the Dublin media arent interested in how the BE dispute is crippling the regional cities and the rural areas outside of Dublin and therefore "it hasnt affected anyone much"

perhaps this is why some of the more hot headed fellows in BE decided to shoot themselves in the foot today. IR workers should note that any hope they had of public support in the future just got flushed down the pan.

And now the question, in light of this morning, will IE and BAC management go to the high court to get an injunction to prevent persons unknown from picketing to ensure this is the last of this messing

This evening should be fine as should tomorrow. They wont go to court unless it became a daily thing. Personally its Monday you should watch for!

Thats what I'm thinking, id say watch out for monday, but will the injunction be effective given the picket is wildcat and not sanctioned by the union?

I'm sure it would, it would however put even more pressure on the NBRU and Dermot O Leary may well have to get up earlier than 06.00 to restore order!

It's the first time in a long time that I have seen the NBRU in such a tricky position.

You have NBRU members in Waterford claiming to know nothing about the picketing yet plenty of them took part....

It's also really positive to see Ross harden his stance and even more that bodies such as Dublin Chamber urging Goverment not to get involved. Both sides say they are free to talk and if it continues and more wildcat strikes I wouldn't be surprised to see new legislation put in place.

Like Luas lads, they have bitten off more than they can chew.
