19.23 Gorey to Dublin
Why is this service been cancelled every week. I will be visiting Gorey on Tuesday & I see that the 19.23 service is cancelled again No notice on the IE website.??
|
I believe it is because of overnight route works between Greystones and Arklow. The train is sent down to Rosslare and overnights there, instead of overnighting in Connolly, running empty to Arklow at 04something, and running a service from Arklow to Rosslare at 05something, which service has also been cancelled for some time.
|
There seems to be a few too many overnight works on the DART line? any reason for this? or is the overnight DART works just an excuse?

This has been going on for the best part of 3weeks I think. Last week I traveled on the 20.05 which was meant to be a train but then a bus transfer didnt get to Dublin until 11.05pm from 8.30 that evening. Traveling by bus to Gorey until I see new trains and the new timetable... lest that way I can leave Gorey late with the improved bus service. |

Just get the 18.50 Gorey/Dublin service ex 17.40 Rosslare least this service isn't canceled. |
Tuesday to Thursday

19.23 Gorey/Dublin is canceled again this week and the 20.05 Enniscorthy/Dublin is a bus transfer to Bray and DART to Connolly AGAIN. |
12/05/2009 to 14/05/2009
Again the 19.23 Gorey to Dublin is canceled and the 20.05 Enniscorthy is a transfer by bus to Bray & DART to Dublin.
What exactly are IE doing to Connolly/Bray overnight works? I need to know at this stage........ |
Glad to see both 19.23 & 20.05 Services are back to normal.
Last nights 19.23 service left Gorey @19.35 due to technical faults which were, Closing of doors without the 3 beep sounds, Lights go off, Toilet sound says for privacy lock doors, Inside interior door did not work Open/Close, Onboard display half the writing working (i.e) Connolly Station -> Conno If this persists it will look bad for the new trains on the Gorey line. |
Service was 2800 class this evening.
A regular thing I have noticed on the 22K is the internal doors always seem to be broken. The heating/Air-con system seems to be failing regularly. The services seem to be substituted regularly by 29000 and now the 2800 seem to be replacing them. |
Its bad enough that the 2800 class are on 9/10 Rosslare/Gorey services you think Irish Rail would make sure to have one service a day to Gorey to be the new 22k trains.
The issue about the infernal doors not working believe me its going to be a problem. |
They came to an agreement and decided to throw the worst possible 22k on the rosslare line. thats what i think
|
Wobbles, I think you should start a thread on the 06.00 Gorey/Connolly, I noticed you mentioned this on another thread. See how many faults can go wrong with this particular service and the ex 16.40 Dublin/Gorey, This is after all a new train.

They (the 22ks) should not be used on any commuter services that would have people standing. The train is not built for it. I hope the ones being built for commuter services will take this into account! |
To be honest its the train drivers who make the journey in the way of turning on the onboard PA, Making sure the infernal passage way doors are working, Toilets are clean they are after all in control of driving the train. They dont just drive the train they also should be in charge of litter after each journey like it says in the passenger charter..
Its the train drivers that make the journey more of an experience. |
The 0600 Gorey-Connolly 13/7/09 delayed 10 min at Blackrock. Not sure of the problem but the driver was looking under each coach on the train. Also 3 internal doors and 1 toilet out of order

Just to show these 22k trains aren't perfect

Who said the 22ks were perfect?
The mayor of Sligo is worried about safety. What a muppet! Inconvenience yes, but safety? It was probably because of safety concerns that the delay was so long. God save us from grandstanding local politicians. |
The Sligo Lord Mayor may have a valid point about safety, I would prefer to take my chance in one of the MkII type carriages with slam doors not electronically controlled - carriages not full of electrical gear and underfloor motors etc, etc...
Anyway a three hour delay is completely unacceptable - how many of these passengers will never take the train again and how many others will they recount their tales of woe to? Barry Kenny spin your way out of this one. PS Also with older stock it was possible to open windows for air, not like the hermetically sealed sardine cans (MkIVs, 22000s etc). |
The "Mayor" of Sligo should have taken the Mk3s that his colleagues thought weren't good enough for the Sligo line then :)
|
In fairness, loco hauled sets break down more. Now sure about fires. Brake fires seem more common on DMUs :)
|
Just to say that the 29000 class operated tonights 19.23 from Gorey....
|
Tonights Gorey Dublin 19.23 service was cancelled as with the 20.27 to Dublin. I was told that they were doing the overhead lines again. Arrived into Dublins tara Street at 23.05.
Their is no notice on the IE site or RUI maybe i just cant see it. |
No notice but ongoing
