20/12/10 07:00 Dublin to Cork

Left Portlaoise at 08:22, 30 minutes late, following several signal stops including a prolonged one outside Portlaoise.

Mark Gleeson 20-12-2010 09:51

Points frozen at Limerick and Portloaise this morning

snow about to hit parts of the capital shortly,

could be fun later!

ThomasJ 20-12-2010 11:08

seems to be snowing alot along the DART line by the coast ATM

pixiebean22 20-12-2010 11:49

Very very heavy snow in Dublin City Centre now, around Baggot Street and Leeson Street. I'm on the 10th floor of a building and it looks pretty much widespread across the city. It's sticking too because it has been so cold today.

Take it handy

Blackrock Station

Just for reference according to Dublin Bus neither the 17, nor the 114 are able to access the area around the station, operating from frascati road instead

I'd be interested to see how the 114 will manage that

update from irish rail

Services between Bray and Greystones are currently suspended due to a ESB power fault in the area. Dublin Bus are honouring rail tickets.

Mark Gleeson 20-12-2010 14:00

17+ 114 back serving Blackrock

Appears the substation in Greystones has tripped out, its the only one which does not have a dual grid connection.

ThomasJ 20-12-2010 14:42

back running between bray and greystones

luas green line only operating between st stephens green and sandyford with a bus service between sandyford and brides glen

1235 Belfast-Dublin cancelled apparently without alternative transport 1410 ex Belfast running 46 minutes late due to line closure Belfast-Lisburn because of signal problems

I expect that means a 29K on the 1520 to Belfast and another one or a significant delay for the 1650

Allowing one would be illegal

I thought they could cross the border with two drivers in the event of an enterprise failure. There was an 8 coach one in Belfast on December 5th

Mark Gleeson 20-12-2010 15:30

If we catch Irish Rail breaking NI law again there will be trouble

Irish Rail has NO exemptions from the rules and haven't applied for any.

pixiebean22 20-12-2010 15:33

Why is it illegal?

Irish trains other than Enterprise sets don't have the required safety equipment to operate on the NI network.

Ah okay, thanks

ThomasJ 20-12-2010 16:07

all the fun at the moment seems to be with the coastal areas, I'd say there are some views along the DART line at the moment

although it wouldnt surprise me if the front moves inland.

Could be a long night for Dublin ! :D

Thomas J Stamp 20-12-2010 16:38

yeah god love ye :p

apparently there was a blizzard in Howth earlier

i see what you mean!

but everytime this happens the city comes to a halt and none of you decent country folk can get home in under 7 hours! :p

pixiebean22 20-12-2010 18:17

For those relying on buses, traffic is very slow between leeson street and stephen's green, it's almost at a standstill. Once you get to college green and the quays it's moving, albeit very slowly. A lot of buses stuck around stephens green in traffic.

Trains seem to be operating fine out of hueston

Rashers 20-12-2010 20:20

Presently 40 min delays to Northern suburban trains to Drogheda...
Nothing in the IE travel alerts or on their twitter....

Trampas 20-12-2010 20:22

went to get the 1542 Lansdowne to Malahide (1500 Greystones to Malahide)

just before i left work everything running fine. Around 3.30

As getting to the station barriers go down and me thinking that is great dart on time. next thing a dart flies through northbound (out of service on it) and the next dart not due till 1555 which said it was the (1500 Greystones to Malahide)

No announcement on delays.

Therefore I was left standing around for over a half an hour to get any kind of train to maynooth.

The arklow train pulled into Pearse just before 16.30 only around 20 mins late. They blamed the weather

Colm Moore 20-12-2010 22:42

Luas operating fully; no mention of Connolly though, possibly closed
