The Irish Rail number includes a large number of annual tickets. The Irish Rail card is available from a TVM, Luas one must be bought online.

Looking forward to collecting an ITS card later this week....

It's not surprising really, they're not that useful for the vast majority of Luas passengers.

Third week of July is arrival day, well for us it is.

Any word on the final fare structure. Or even how it is going to work for the test?

I have one of the old rail only point to point annual tickets that (surprise surprise) doesn't work in any of the machines......the guys in the station look at you like you have two heads when you ask them to open the gates - its not my fault my ticket that cost over 2K doesn't work:mad:

W:mad: Why can't the tax saver office issue and new smart card and deliver it to one of the stations I use so I don't have to go into Connolly station to get it changed??? I did ask can they do this and I could surrender my old ticket at the same time but they said they can't as there would be two tickets in circulation at the same time - Do they not trust their own staff to be able to hold onto a ticket until I hand in my replacement????

I can't take time off work to go into Connolly to change my ticket and because they won't send it to my local station, the guys may just keep on opening the gate for me......

No. The DB card is the same one used by JCD in Paris and other cities and isn't compatible with the ITS card at all. Maybe in the future it might but they have very different functions - the ITS card holds cash or tickets on the card itself but the DB card uses cash on the back-office instead. It's also tied to a €150 deposit by cheque or credit card so I wouldn't imagine that they'd let anyone with an ITS card take out a DB bike until they've sorted out a deposit separately.

The ITS card can contain numerous applications and Dublin Bikes is being looked at. Its one of the clever things Dublin's ITS system will have.

Presumably you will have to register with Dublin Bikes first and then you can get it 'added' to your card when you top up etc

sounds good - presently I have IE, Luas, Dublin Bikes and Dublin Bus smartcards in my wallet, would be nice to reduce it down to one.

Can the fare structure for the test or card branding be discussed?

The roll out is ongoing it take a few days to install the software across a portion of the Dublin bus fleet. We have suggested that when a reader becomes enabled that an ITS sticker is applied, we had a similar request with Irish Rail who did tag every smartcard device with an ID so that might be work looking for

There are 6 retailers in the city centre now able to top up the cards.

I'm not sure if a similar question has been already answered but I am wondering, I have about €40 credit on my Luas. Now I don't use the Luas often, so I'll probably have this for a few years before I actually use it up.

So my questions are when the LEAP card is fully up an running, will the old Luas card still work and for how long? I do want to get the LEAP card anyway, so will I be able to transfer the credit from the Luas card to the new LEAP card?

The two systems can run fully in parallel.

There is ongoing debate as to how the migration of card value is to proceed

equally can i assume that my Dublin Bus multi journey/multiday tickets will function until the printed expiry dates ?

They are likely to last a little beyond the printed expiry dates, but in any case, the technology is much the same.

If you have tickets near or beyond their expiry, Dublin Bus **might** give you credit towards a new ticket.

I've had a couple of tickets replaced over the counter at Dublin Bus head office and one was refunded by post. You do have to fill in a form so I imagine if you request it too much they'll pick it up.
